Private beta · Alachua County
Testing terms
Version 2026-10-10. These terms apply to the private beta only.
What this is
What Happens Now is an early test version of a plain-language guide to the first 24 hours after an arrest in Alachua County, Florida. Project Jail Cell, Inc. (“we”) is a Florida nonprofit. You are a tester. We are asking testers to tell us what is wrong, confusing, or missing.
This beta is open only to people 18 or older who agree to these terms.
Do not rely on it
Information in the beta may be wrong, out of date, incomplete, or not confirmed by the jail, the court, or anyone else. Each local item shows a status and a date. Testers we have invited also see items that we have held back from families because they are not confirmed; those carry a Tester preview label.
Do not use the beta, including its AI assistant, to decide what to do in a real situation. Check with the jail, the Clerk of Court, the court, or a lawyer. In an emergency call 911. For a mental health crisis call or text 988.
Not advice, not a service
The beta gives general information about a process. It is not legal advice, medical advice, or advice about any person’s case. Using it does not create a lawyer-client relationship. It does not look up people, contact the jail, or say when anyone will be released. Nobody monitors it as an emergency line, and email to us is not crisis help.
We are independent. The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, the jail, and the courts do not run, approve, or endorse it.
Your risk, and a release
You use the beta at your own risk. It is provided “as is” and “as available,” with no promise that it is accurate, current, complete, or available.
As far as the law allows, you release Project Jail Cell, Inc., its directors, officers, volunteers, and contributors from any claim for harm, loss, or cost that arises from your use of the beta or your reliance on anything in it. This does not release claims the law does not allow to be released, including claims for gross negligence or intentional misconduct. If any part of this section is not enforceable, the rest still applies.
What not to send us
Do not enter or email an arrested person’s name, a case number, or what happened. We do not ask for them. A question typed into the assistant is sent to an AI service to write the answer; we do not save it or link it to you, but it is not private from that service.
Feedback
If you tell us what is wrong or missing, we may use it to improve the beta and the information without owing you anything for it.
Your sign-up information
We keep your name, email, role, optional organization, and the version and time of your acceptance of these terms for up to 180 days. Each sign-up is also emailed to our inbox, and those email copies are not deleted automatically; we delete them, and the stored record, when you ask.
Changes, law, contact
We may change or end the beta at any time, and we may change these terms; the version you accepted is recorded. Florida law governs. Questions or deletion requests: hello@projectjailcell.org.
